The GreenWood Resources global enterprise is led from our headquarters in Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. Here, we plan and manage strategic direction and corporate governance, new tree farm funds and business development, as well as ensure global execution of each of our core business groups:
Capital management
Our capital management group develops investment products and works with existing timberland investment funds, endowments, institutional investors and high-net-worth family offices interested in high-yield, fast-growing tree farm investments. We create acquisition opportunities and structured investments and manage these investments to produce superior risk-adjusted returns. In North America, GreenWood Resources successfully organized the GreenWood Tree Farm Fund, LP. And we are organizing additional investment opportunities into high-yield, fast-growing tree farm assets and their products throughout North America, South America and Asia.
Tree improvement & nurseries
Our world-renowned tree improvement program is well-established in the Pacific Northwest and Southeast regions of the U.S., where we oversee our intellectual property, global tree improvement program and elite plant material. From this foundation, we are expanding our tree improvement program and deployment of our elite plant material to tree farms worldwide. Our North American operations have established test sites through the western United States to enhance the carbon sequestration and cellulosic ethanol conversion capabilities of our elite plant material. And we are expanding our program to include other hardwood species grown under a short-rotation strategy.
Resource management
Our experts are internationally recognized in high-yield, fast-growing tree farm management. In North America, we are the leading manager of fast-growing poplar tree farms and manage over 35,000 acres owned through the GreenWood Tree Farm Fund. We have performed client assessments for new North American tree farm developments of well over 100,000 acres. These strategic assessments will expand the number of acres managed through new GreenWood Resources tree farm investment funds, or for third-party investors who will use our integrated capabilities to manage these tree farm developments.
Product sales & trading
We maximize returns for our fast-growing tree farms by marketing, selling and trading wood products through a number of avenues, especially specialty markets interested in FSC-certified supply. Expert wood products staff located in North America, South America and Asia provide unique access to products from owned assets and strategic relationships with local and regional manufacturers. In North America, we have a strategic partnership with The Collins Companies through our venture in the GreenWood Tree Farm Fund. Collins will build and operate a state-of-the-art sawmill and will market the mill's products under the brand name Pacific Albus™. Because of our tree improvement program and our sustainable tree farm management approach, the quality of the product is consistent, uniform and always available. It is also certified under the principles and criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council's Plantation Standards.
