Jeff Nuss — President & Chief Executive Officer
Jeff Nuss is the founder, chairman and CEO of GreenWood Resources and its subsidiaries and is directly responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the company. Jeff has more than 18 years of tree farm development, management and investment experience and more than 7 years of experience in international business development. As chairman and CEO, Jeff helps lead the development of the high-yield, short-rotation tree farm industry in the U.S. His leadership in strategic business planning, operational strategies, product marketing development, strategic alliances, capital financing, financial analysis and management has resulted in significant investments from high-net-worth families, trusts, timber investment management organizations and other forestry companies.
Jeff is a leading industry spokesman and advocate for novel methods of sustainable timber production and serves on the boards of the World Forestry Center, Agribusiness Council and Western Hardwood Council.
He received a B.S. in bio-resource engineering and an M.S. in resource management and policy within the Civil Engineering Department of Oregon State University.
Hunter Brown — Chief Operating Officer
Hunter Brown has more than 30 years of extensive experience in the forest products industry, including general management positions with Fortune 500 companies, Georgia-Pacific and Mead, as well as entrepreneurial startups.
Prior to joining GreenWood Resources, Hunter was executive vice president and chief operating officer for Paccess, a global supply chain services management firm, where his responsibilities included development and management of all Asian supply chain activities and global operations. Hunter has more than 18 years of business development experience in Asia.
He received a B.S. in forestry from the University of the South, an M.S. in forestry from Duke University and completed the executive program at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
Lincoln Bach — Corporate Controller
Lincoln Bach is an experienced financial executive with over 12 years of experience in finance, human resource management, fund/investment management and public accounting.
Prior to joining GreenWood Resources, Lincoln was corporate controller for an international family-wealth-management firm. In this role, he was responsible for the accounting and tax functions for a multinational investment company and assisted in the due diligence process of investment opportunities for his clients. Prior to this, he served as an audit manager at Deloitte & Touche, specializing in the retail, real estate and employee benefit plan industries.
He received a B.S. in accounting from Linfield College and is a certified public accountant and CFP® professional.
Dr. Brian Stanton — Managing Director of Tree Improvement and Nursery Group
Dr. Stanton has more than 25 years of experience in forest genetics and is an internationally recognized expert on global poplar genetics and plantation culture. His research has produced some of the finest breeding collections of Populus deltoides and Populus trichocarpa. For 20 years, Brian has overseen the technological developments for poplar on commercial tree farms in the U.S. where he has produced over 40,000 varieties of hybrid poplar that have been tested throughout Chile, China, Europe and the United States.
Brian is the chair of the Poplar and Willow Working Party for the International Union of Forest Research Organizations and the past chair for the Society of American Foresters Genetics and Tree Improvement Working Group. He is also an adjunct professor at the Washington State University Department of Natural Resource Sciences.
Brian received a B.S. in biology from West Chester State College, an M.S. in forestry from the University of Maine and a Ph.D. in forest resources from Pennsylvania State University.
Don Rice — Managing Director of Resource Management Group
Don Rice has more than 30 years of experience in natural resource management, manufacturing maintenance and project management, with specific focus on short-rotation agroforestry on both dry land (irrigated) and high-moisture (drainage) sites. He brings an extensive background in tree farm operations management — including project organization and execution, budgeting, planning and P&L responsibility — including all aspects of silvicultural activities from site preparation through harvesting.
Prior to joining GreenWood Resources, Don was the Oregon poplar resource and manufacturing manager for Potlatch Corporation. Previously, he was director of operations for the Fort James Poplar Farm in the lower-Columbia Basin in the Pacific Northwestern U.S.
Don has a degree in agricultural engineering from Washington State University.
Jake Eaton — Director of Acquisitions & Resource Planning
Jake Eaton has more than 25 years of experience in traditional forestry and short-rotation, high-yield tree farming. Jake comes to GreenWood Resources after 21 years with Potlatch Corporation where he worked as a research manager, initially focusing on softwood tree improvement, plantation establishment and silviculture, with a specific focus on the productivity of young plantations.
In 1991, Jake initiated field research on short-rotation poplar tree farming on traditional agricultural sites. As a direct result of this effort, Potlatch established a poplar program in 1993. Jake was part of the senior management team that initiated the project, eventually growing the farm to over 17,000 acres under management. While with Potlatch, Jake was responsible for tree improvement and operational research, plant material development, farm operations and leading the FSC and ISO certification programs. Jake has extensive global experience in short-rotation tree farm silviculture and productivity enhancement.
He holds a B.S. in forest management and forest harvesting from Oregon State University and an M.S. in silviculture and genetics from the University of Montana.
Cory Boswell — Assistant Manager, Tree Farm Operations
Cory Boswell brings a wealth of experience in production agriculture, agribusiness and intensive, short rotation forestry to his role as Assistant Manager of Tree Farm Operations. Cory grew up farming and ranching in northeastern Oregon. Previous to joining GWR he was an agricultural investment analyst, underwriting real estate loans across the Western US. Since joining GreenWood Resources, Cory has been responsible for development of long-term management plans, financial reporting and analysis, spreadsheet and database development, Geographic Information Systems and project management. Cory received his BS in Agriculture and Resources Economics with a minor in Business Administration from Oregon State University.
GreenWood Resources China, Ltd.
Brian Liu — Vice President & General Manager, China Operations
Brian Liu has extensive experience in international trade, focused primarily on agricultural and forestry products. Prior to joining GreenWood Resources, he was the international trade officer with the State of Oregon Department of Agriculture, and was responsible for the trade policies and promotions between the U.S. and China. He successfully led the U.S. negotiation teams to China for opening of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou markets for the U.S. agricultural and food products. His also negotiated and built a China-U.S. Friendship Demonstration Garden inside the China National Botanical Garden in Beijing to promote nursery and forestry products of five western U.S. states for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In addition to his agricultural experience, Brian has over 18 years of business management and foreign trade experience working for U.S. government and companies specialized in business developments, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining the State of Oregon, Brian was responsible for the development of Chinese market for InFocus Corporation, including the establishment of a wholly owned office in Shanghai and technology transfer of production lines from Oregon to Shanghai.
Brian was born in Guangdong, moved to Oregon at the age of 14 and lived there until 2006 when he was expatriated to Beijing to establish and manage GWR’s China operation. Brian has a B.S. degree in finance law and an M.B.A. degree in international management from Portland State University. He also received executive trainings from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.

Carlos Sierra Silva — Vice President & General Manager, Chile Operations
Carlos Sierra Silva is a forest engineer with over 30 years of industry experience in Chile. This includes his role as a director with CONAF, the Chilean Forest Service, where he developed relationships between the government and forest companies. Carlos also served as general manager for forest investments and operations of Shell Forestry in Chile, where he was responsible for the development and advancement of eucalyptus and radiata pine silviculture regimes in Chile. In this capacity he was responsible for the acquisition, due diligence, management and timber product sales effort for approximately 85,000 hectares of tree farm plantations.
Carlos holds degrees in forestry engineering from the Universidad de Chile and company management from the Business School at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. He has also completed numerous courses in forest harvesting, safety and environment protection, forest fire control, forest mensuration, silviculture, international wood trade and forestry management.
Prior to joining GreenWood Resources, Carlos was a consultant in forest administration, specializing in the development of integrated models for the forest industry and wood supply programs.
